That shoe-tying thing is somewhere in there as well. Sadly, a lot of kids come to school unable to identify or say their letters, so we’ve got to get them caught up. Do a series of pretests, assessments, and post tests to determine success and growing familiarity with letters. Our free resources will help!

Break out your plastic coins, practice your skip-counting by 5’s, 10’s, and 25’s, and let’s get this skill hammered down nicely. Oh, and these free money worksheets might help you in your endeavors. Browse through and practice with these, and then you could have students make change for you from a change drawer as a performance assessment!

Counting is such a keystone skill it’s not even funny. Try doing multiplication or addition when you count 1, 2, 7. Get on it ladies and gentlemen, and have those kids counting to a billion (or thereabouts)! The more the merrier, the higher the better. Practice skip counting by multiples, too. You wouldn’t believe how much that helps when it comes time for multiplication.

Wow! It’s been a while since I wrote anything except holiday posts. I like getting back into the swing of things with Math. Woohoo! Everyone’s favorite subject, next to being ridiculed in high school gym class, math is one of those practice makes perfect things. Why not print out some worksheets to keep your little guys’ skills sharp over breaks, vacations, or just during the week? Beat the after-break dull student epidemic with regular practice. Keep those minds active!
